Thank-you everyone for a wonderful second term! It’s great to see everyone’s hard work starting to show some results as we prepare for our busy term 3. The Goondiwindi Eisteddfod and dance exams make Term 3 probably our craziest term of the year.
Week 10 viewing week!
Week 10 (20th June -26th June) is parent viewing week for all dance classes.
Costumes, Costumes, & more Costumes
I will be ordering the final lot of costumes for all the dances over the school holidays. All students should receive a costume note this week with their next costumes and price. If there are any issues with my choices please let me know before the school holidays commence. If you would like Ballet or shimmer tights ordered please complete this form https://forms.gle/PESLMvCfCeqd1mDS8 before the start of the June/July holidays. A copy of this form can also be found on our website.
The dance entries will be held from Thursday 5th to Saturday 7th of August. The exact details of when each dance group, solo and duo is required to be at the Cultural Centre will be posted on the Lilly’s Dance Academy Facebook page, website, and emailed to parents as soon as I become aware. At this stage the timetable has not been released.
A reminder that at the Eisteddfod:
Parents are NOT allowed backstage, unless a volunteer.
Students to arrive fully dressed in their first costume and have their hair and makeup fully done. A jumper over your costume would be wonderful.
Only bring what you need with you backstage. Food, water bottle and something to keep you quietly entertained while waiting.
Be willing to share the dressing room space with others.
No ‘Diva’ like behavior! Anyone I see being ungrateful, inappropriate or disrespectful will be promptly told to leave (no matter if they have performed their dance or not). Be humble, respectful and thankful of this opportunity and of your parents for making it possible.
During the Eisteddfod week dance classes will run as normal unless otherwise stated.
Goondiwindi Eisteddfod Rehearsal
A rehearsal for the Goondiwindi Eisteddfod will be held on Sunday the 24th of July. This is a great opportunity to practice spacing out the dances on the stage. If you are not able to attend th is rehearsal please let me know ASAP as it is very difficult to space dancers out on stage when we are missing students.
Rehearsal times are also listed below.
I have also made a costume details note that highlights how students are to wear their hair, makeup, colour of shoes and tights etc. Students in the Eisteddfod should have a copy of the note this week. Again for those parents that would like me to order their tights please complete the Dancers Warehouse Order form by the end of term 2. https://forms.gle/PESLMvCfCeqd1mDS8
RAD Ballet Exams/Practice Exam
Keep practicing over the holidays! I can’t say it enough. The RAD ballet exams are on Saturday the 13th of August so please keep up the practice. Below is the official timetable for both the RAD exams (Saturday 13th of August) and practice exams (Sunday 7th of August). Class times will be the same for both days. Students are required to be ready for their exam and practice exam at the studio 10mins prior to their start time. Full exam attire is to be worn for both days. There is no cost involved for the practice exam but it is compulsory.
Comdance Jazz and Tap Exams/Practice Exam
Our Comdance Jazz and Tap exams will now be held on Sunday the 11th of September. The official registration for the exams will be about 4 weeks out from the exam so there is still plenty of time to express your interest if you haven’t already.
For those students already signed up, a reminder that our practice sessions are on the 18th & 19th of June! These 1.5hr long sessions are designed so your student can go into the exam feeling confident and comfortable. If you haven’t signed up for the practice sessions and your student is going to do the exam, please sign up today. The Practice session comes at a cost of $20 per student and forms can be completed here.

In addition to these practice sessions there will also be a practice exam held on the 28th of August. Times of the practice exam to be confirmed once we know the exam times. I will make this practice exam session the same so the students will feel comfortable in the exam. There is no cost involved.
Music to help students practice for the exams is also available on this google drive folder. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1HakI0jP_CIGULCkrYxzA59dPXCqQESqf?usp=sharing If you have any trouble accessing the music please let me know.
Private Lessons over the school holidays
For any students wanting a few extra lessons (ballet exam students, solos at the eisteddfod or Comdance exams) please let me know before holidays commence to arrange a time for a private. Private lessons cost $38.50/hr on weekdays and $55/hr on weekends.
Dance Jumpers and Uniforms
As always, we have plenty of dance unforms in stock including our dance jumpers which are perfect for these chilly days and the cold walls of the Cultural Centre come eisteddfod time. If you would like to purchase anything at all, please just send me a message.
Adult Ballet classes
Adult dance classes are still on with lots of Ballet every week to get yourself poised and balanced. Come along and bring your friends on Tuesday nights at 6:30pm. It’s a great way to work up a sweat while having a laugh. $10 cash paid on the day or purchase one of our 5 lesson passes for $45.
Reminder that on public holidays and pupil free days classes will still run as normal.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, I am more than happy to arrange a time to meet with you and talk (not during or in-between classes). Otherwise you can always send me through an email or give me a call.
